Rescue Me ID: 17-04-09-00327Achilles (male)

Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Achilles is an almost 1 year old neutered 80 lb juvenile Rottweiler male with a cropped tail. He is a sweet boy, loyal, and good with people. His is affectionate and playful with puppy exuberance. Achilles loves to go on walks and loves to play with his toys. He also loves to play fetch with his ball. He is a beautiful guy with a muscular frame, shiny coat and classic Rottweiler features. He is good in the car. Achilles is strong and can be imposing with the classic Rottweiler stare and stance. He is a good guard dog and will bark when people approach the property or when dogs go by. Achilles gets into a little puppy mischief, ... (Read More)sometimes mistaking a stuffed animal for a dog toy, but mostly loves to chew on his toys, bones and balls. He is potty-trained and is currently using a dog door. He will go into a crate but prefers to sleep in his dog bed and does sleep through the night. Achilles is currently living with a large and medium sized dog. He has not been tested with cats, but he does react to other small critters (bunnies, squirrels and birds) trying to bark at them and chase. On leash, Achilles can be reactive to other dogs and needs further socialization. He is coming into his adulthood and is testing his boundaries and place. When properly introduced and acclimated, Achilles is playful and tolerant of other well-behaved dogs however Achilles can become overwhelmed when there are a large number of unfamiliar dogs. He is not a dog-park dog - he does best with a small circle of dogs he knows and trusts. Achilles walks well on leash using his prong collar but will need a firm hand when encountering highly excited or threatening dogs. He is receptive to instruction and leadership, is very food motivated (he loves cheese) and toy motivated. Achilles would do best with a strong leader who is familiar with the Rottweiler breed and who will be patient and consistent when continuing his socialization and training. Achilles needs regular walks and exercise, but he is not high energy. A daily walk or a hike and some batches of fetch time will turn him into a log until he is rejuvenated and ready to go again. If you would like to be considered as a possible adopter for Achilles, please contact us. He comes vaccinated with DA2PP, Bordetella, and a Rabies shot. He also comes neutered, dewormed, flea protected for one month, micro chipped that comes with microchip registration, leash and collar, some starter food, 20 percent coupon at Pet Food Express, and training fliers and her first training is on us with one of our dog trainers.
